Meet Clare Whitaker, our dedicated Regional Manager who has been a valued part of the team since 2018. Clare originally joined the business as a Contracts Manager, quickly making her mark through her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and genuine care for both our customers and cleaning staff. Her consistent drive to go above and beyond in every aspect of her role led to a well-deserved promotion to Regional Manager. Now its time to learn a little more about Clare........

Professional Background & Role

  • How long have you been with ServiceMaster Mercia, and what originally attracted you to this role?
I have worked for ServiceMaster for around 7 ½ years & wanted to work for a smaller family company rather than the large global company that I previously worked in as I wanted to be more than a payroll number.

 

  • Can you tell us about your role and what a typical day looks like for you?

I am a Regional Manager where I oversee a select few sites within my role, but the majority of my position is focused on supporting our 3 contracts managers & the day to day operations of the business.

 

  • What do you enjoy most about your job?
The variation of my role - no 2 days are the same
  • What’s the most rewarding project or contract you’ve worked on here?
Prince Abert High School, I watched it be built, initiated the cleaning & mapping of the areas which grown over the years. We now currently have 18 cleaners working hard to keep the school maintained to a high level
  • What skills or qualities do you think are essential in your role?
People skills is a must

  • How has ServiceMaster Mercia supported your professional growth?
Always opportunities to go on courses and develop your skills. ServiceMaster Mercia give me the belief in that I can take on more responsibility & thrive.
  • What’s a piece of advice you’d give to someone starting in your position?
You reap what you sow, put the ground work in & take your time to get to know your staff. The more time you invest in your staff the greater their appreciation will be of you. In turn they will go above & beyond to help you which is down to their respect for you as their manager.

Going to concerts & festivals & beach holidays

 

  • Do you have a hidden talent or interesting hobby?

Along side my job I have founded my own homeless charity which I run quite successfully feeding the homeless in the city centre of Birmingham

 

  • What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Work hard & always be kind - being rich doesn't have to be financial

 

  • If you could have dinner with any historical figure or celebrity, who would it be and why?
Ant & Dec because I absolutely adore these everyday  down to earth normal lads whom have been on the TV since I was young & still are to this day. They make me laugh!
